MySpace for Fictional Characters?

This is probably old news to some, but I had missed that Danielle Corsetto had set up a MySpace page for her Girls With Slingshots characters, Hazel and Jamie.

It's not clear that everyone interacting with it knows that these are fictional characters... On the other hand it sounds like it's been a successful promotional gimmick. Corsetto wrote:
Hazel and Jamie's MySpace page has received massive attention! They had more "friends" in two days than I'd gotten in a few weeks! They already have their own personal "creepy stalker," they've been granted "friendship vibrators" (thank you, Sam!), and Jamie's been tickled pink over all the compliments she and her *ahem* melons have received.

STEAM! "Adventure seeker Radd in the Cyber Comic Quest!

Yo. A belated introductory post here. I've been a member of the site for a while, but only recently began posting to the forums.

I've been doing webcomics for a little over a year now, having begun May 1st, 2004. As of this writing I'm 77 pages in, with three issues self published. Myt first comic, The Attack of the Amazing Flying Spud, is basically a learning experience, having not seriously tackled a long running comic project previously. So far I've racked up a lot of excellent ideas and techniques, and look forward to putting them to good use in my next comic projects, once the Spud comic is all wrapped up. Currently, as a full page, full colour ongoing story, the comic updates once a week.
