ComicsNexus.com Interviews Danielle Corsetto

ComicNexus.com has an interview with Danielle Corsetto, creator of Girls with slingshots. The interview covers, among other things, the recently announced partnership with Bill Jemas' 360ep.

The way 360ep found Corsetto sounds a bit like the webcomics equivalent of "Waitress-working-in-diner-is-discovered-by-movie-director":
Teresa, my first contact from 360, spent a VERY long time looking through those millions and trillions of webcomics and hit Keenspace one day. Now, I don't have anything on Keenspace, but I was about to put Ramblers on Keenspace after I'd finished about a year of it. Well, I never actually got around to that, but somehow Teresa stumbled upon the BEGININGS of what would have been Ramblers on Keenspace, and did a bit of SE work, found me, and then e-mailed me.

Other Sites About Webcomics

Most folks here are familar with Comixpedia and the Webcomics Examiner but may have overlooked other sites that talk about the broad spectrum of webcomics. Their approaches vary, but are all worth checking out: Time Waster's Guide, Korsil and Kill Boredom.

Kill Boredom, like the Webcomic List has a script that counts how many times readers click through comics on a list (a variation on the traditional Top List scripts). I've never sure what the value of something like that is as I doubt most folks actually conduct their regular reading of webcomics through a portal site. I'm not opposed to lists per se, but I think it'd only be worth the hassle if it was generated from a more useful or valuable set of information than the approaches I've seen to date.

PvP Returns To PC Gamer

Scott Kurtz has announced on his website that, starting April, well known gaming magazine PC Gamer will once again include exclusive PvP strips.
PvP ran in PC Gamer some years ago and I've always felt that I let that opportunity slip through my fingers. I'm thrilled to have PC Gamer welcome PvP back! It's going to feel great to pick the mag off the shelf and find PvP inside.

When a Niche Audience Isn't Enough

Zachary Stroum, the creator of Shaw Island, is considering taking a break from webcomics. He notes that he's been creating webcomics since 1999 (practically the beginning of time for webcomics).

He wrote a pretty thoughtful post on how he wants to make a living from making comics, and what his options might be to get from where he is now to where he wants to be.
There are a couple different solutions to this, so that I can keep drawing comics. Either I can ask you guys for a salary, or I can take the same large chunks of time I'm using to work on this comic, and develop something that would hit the proverbial ball out of the park so that I can eventually do this for a living.

Emerald City Con This Weekend

The third annual Emerald City Con takes place this weekend in Seattle, Washington. The Comic Reporter points to a good writeup of it and you can always get more information from the official site.

Penny Arcade, Scott Kurtz, and a host of other artists will be there too.

Anyone Remember Altbrand?

Eh, probably not. Anyhow I just stated patching up the Altbrand site which is now a forum for a group of webcomic creator-friends: Chopping Block, BoxJam's Doodle, SOAR, GSI, Grimbles and Gluemeat. Things been broken for awhile though so there's a lot of cobwebs on the place.
