Absolutely Useless Advice

Should you buy a sheep-dog? What about frogs? .. All the answers you've been looking for: just ask a Pope-Alien Mystic! Yes, all of this advice is useless, but it just might provide a modicum of entertainment.

Continuous Comics

For anyone looking for something different to do, Continuous Comics has just launched. Everyone knows the form, do a page of the comic and pass it on, as seen in comixpedia's own weekly webcomic jam. However this one is a tad more open form and is designed for anyone to get in and have fun without too much trouble.

Also of note, this one is being run by Rex of Make With the Funny and Sketch Battle, so this is not just a flash in the pan. Check it out!

Coffee Haus? Why not a Martini Bar?

I suppose us geeks are not really known for our classy martini sipping characteristics...

So anyways...I thought I'd drop by...check the community out...see if the cocktail franks are still good...

(Some call this whoring...I call it expanding my virtual social network...and we'll add an "or something" for expanded smarminess)

So anyway...as pretty much everyone around here I too am a striving webcomic artist...I do three comics...feel free to check the site out....

Linky link for those who never check out signatures...like me...

Nightshade: Soul Captor

http://www.nightshade.tonicity3.com/001.html

I have 36 comic strips finished already... Anyway, to get to them click on comics on the site, and then click on the comics banner of nightshade. Let me know what you think here, or sign up in the forums at my site and let me know there! Personally I think they start getting funnier around #9.

Modern Tales Websites Experience Server Outage

Update (4/1): Girlamatic is back up.

Day Two of the MT blackout In all seriousness, hopefully this is a short-lived issue for MT
.

According to a post at Joey Manley's blog, a hard drive on the server that hosts Modern Tales and several other sites has failed. Efforts to restore the sites are ongoing.

Connecticon Rewards System for Webcomics

UPDATE: Email exchange with Connecticut Staffer at Journey Into History Blog provides further information regarding Connecticut guest policy.

I guess this is one way to take the subjectivity out of deciding who to invite as a guest of a convention. Connecticon has announced a "webcomic tiers" plan that provides greater perks for webcomic creators attending Connecticon depending on the number of daily unique IP addresses the webcomic receives:

1,000+ UIP/Day - free 3-Day membership to ConnectiCon 2005.

5,000+ UIP/Day - free Artist's Colony Space (includes a 3-Day membership).

10,000+ UIP/Day - free Artist's Colony Table (includes two 3-Day memberships)

25,000+ UIP/Day - free Artist's Colony Table, Green Room access and some help with travel expenses (gas, tolls) and depending on available space a place to sleep and shower.

50,000+ UIP/Day - free Dealer's Room Booth, four 3-Day memberships, Green Room access, all travel expenses and 4-Nights hotel accommodations (Thursday - Sunday).

PHPComic 2.0 is a POSTpn Comics Display Tool

PHPComic 2.0 is a POSTpn module for grabbing comics from the web and displaying them in a POSTpn managed site (Comixpedia is a POSTpn managed site btw).

Although this raises all of the issues debated during the Comictastic news stories, this module, for what it's worth, does seem to include a link to the comic's website. It also has a somewhat active support forum which might provide an opportunity to suggest creator-friendly improvements to the folks behind this piece of code.

Or to learn if there's a way to block it, if you don't want your work displayed via this means of publication.

Convention-vention, What's Your.... um, Fention?

Round-ups galore. Here's some photos of R Stevens' and Jeph Jacques' recent talk at Boston University; a U.K. Mini and Webcomic Thing report from Ping Teo (even more U.K. Thing-related photos); and some photos from last weekend's MomoCon.

Two New Series on Modern Tales

Modern Tales has added two new series to its regular line-up: The Trouble with Igor by Chris Reilly and Sheldon the Pig by Kevin Moore

Joey Manley promises several more new strip launches in the next couple of months. "We're just waiting for contract to come in."

Subjecting Faye to Fan Art

Every so often a fan art meme will take off in an interesting way. Lost to the Dumbrella board crash was the WIGU thread placing WIGU characters into famous art work. Still here for browsing is this thread playing off of a picture of Questionable Content's Faye drinking from a glass. Starts off slow, but gets much, much sillier.
