Girly Returns In Glorious COLOR

On July 19th, after a three-month hiatus, Girly has returned with comic #504. With this, Josh has changed his comic around a bit so that it is now in a wider and larger format, and in full-color!

In chapter Chapter 12, Winter and Otra, stuck on the dangerous peaks of the Valley of Sweet Peril, find themselves reminiscing about past events that led them to where they were today. Yes, it's a much-needed recap episode, but along with bringing new readers up to speed, it promises to reveal many new things to the regular readers as well, including more about the past lives of Winter and Otra, and what their friends have been up to since their recent battle against the Shadowy Guys.

Unlike previous Chapters, 12 will be presented in a wide format and in vibrant colors. Josh stuck with the thin, extremely vertical format of the comic for over 500 strips, but felt that was enough, since it was beginning to stifle his layouts and crowd things a bit. The larger pages will allow for a lot more breathing room, and along with the colors, it has reportedly sent Josh on one of his most artistic highs ever. The comic was scheduled to return August 2, but it went up early.

The trade-off for the new format is that it's now impossible for the comic to update three times a week. Josh is shooting for a weekly schedule, and due to the upcoming San Diego convention, semi-regular updates probably won't officially begin until around the first week of August, but he's sure his readers will understand. On the other hand, with the aforementioned artistic high, who knows!

Josh has been drawing webcomics since 1998. Girly is his longest-running series. Read it at http://go-girly.com/

Slipshine turns five. Presenting... The NEW Slipshine

Slipshine, for those who don't know, is (I'm pretty sure) the internet's first adult webcomic network. It hit its fifth anniversary on December '06. It is now celebrating with a complete site overhaul. Studio Zoe is proud to present The NEW Slipshine, a friendlier version of the old site, which more prominently showcases its various talents than ever before (NSFW).

Girly Book 2 and the Cutewendy reprint, coming soon from Studio Zoe

Possibly against better judgement, Josh Lesnick has decided to publish the next Girly volume, as well as the Cutewendy reprint, through his own company Studio Zoe.

Adult Swim: Maakies and Venture Bros.

It seems last week that Adult Swim posted an update to their schedule with a couple nice pieces of news.

  • Tony Millionaire's pilot will be shown sometime in '07. The pilot is known to be titled "Drinky Crow", though it's curiously listed as "Maakies" on the website.

Another webcomic (Girly) reaches a $$$ goal.

For the months of July and August, Josh Lesnick of Girly had a sales drive going for his comic to raise funds for some new equipment, book printing, and general purposes like rent and groceries. With a week to spare, the goal of $5k was met.

Josh was in need of funds, but since website sales in general tend to go slowly over the Summer, he needed to start some sort of event or something. But as he felt there've been enough "donation drives" in webcomics, he decided to do a Sales drive instead, which included both sales of all his merch as well as donations. All sales and donations recieved between July and August would be totaled up, and two goals were set: $3000 was the normal goal, and $5000 was the "Ultimate" goal wherein Josh could officially concentrate on comics for the rest of the year and not worry too much about making ends meet.
