There was a wallpaper page on the old Comicgenesis ROCR site, but the images linked from there either had become unavailable as a result of the latest server reshuffle in the Modern Tales family of sites (they were hosted on Webcomicsnation's ftp server, which no longer exists) or they're about to become unavailable (the older images are hosted at the old users.bart.nl/~samizdat site, which will probably close down once my bart.nl subscription ends).

After two months of working pretty much non-stop on the crossover storyline Invasion, I was going to take a break. Then I wrote a blog post about my planned break, in which I mentioned that the comic had gained more than 250 daily readers in two months. So I checked to see if I wasn't overestimating the growth - and found that the actual difference was closer to 400. Crossovers clearly work.
It's a bit awkward to have a break while the readership is riding high. I'm not going to go back on my plans and scramble to get pages for tomorrow and Monday out - I need the time to do other things. But here's the deal. Yesterday, I had 1392 unique visitors. If I get more than 1500 today, I will compensate for the break by putting up weekend updates next weekend.

I've got another blog entry on Project Wonderful on my main blog, discussing what I and others perceive to be a trend towards far lower bids than in the company's early stages. In this one, I'm taking some thoughts from Matt Skala who predicts PW will evolve towards a steady state as a free banner exchange.

The webhost for Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan is down. I don't know when it'll be back up; it may be a short outage or a very long one, depending on what's causing it.

A new Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan story, Invasion, began yesterday, both on the ROCR.net site and on the Chronicles of the Witch Queen website. The story is about an invasion of nightmarish creatures in the peaceful Clwydian town of Dungill Fens, and about the search for the faerie Abúi, who has gone missing from her home in the capital of the Gnomian Republic. It reunites Jodoque, Kel, Ragnarok, Jake and Hildegard with some of Kel's friends and family from the Gnomian Republic, last seen in The Rite of Serfdom. The action of the first chapter is set in a forest on the farthest edges of the Gnomian Republic, where humans do not go. We will see humans in the second chapter though, as well as some very strange creatures indeed...

Starting today and continuing over Christmas, I'm re-running the first White House in Orbit storyline, "Orbital Germans", on the Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan website. There's also a provisional White House in Orbit home page for bookmarking, archiving and promotion purposes, but a big part of the point of the exercise is to have the series on the website's front page. White House in Orbit has never had more than a fraction of the audience that Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan had, and I believe a major reason for that is that it never got the exposure that ROCR got.

I have dropped out of the Lazy Grind and switched to guest comics for the foreseeable future. There were more than a month's worth of guest comics from my old website at Comicgenesis that hadn't been posted on the new site yet, so I'm running these first, but I'd like to finish off this guest stint with some new guest comics. If you want to contribute a guest comic, please contact me at reinder dot dijkhuis at gmail dot com .

As far as I know, it's still very rare for any webcomic to be remastered, though reruns with commentary have occurred in a few places. Guðrún was the story with which I finally got serious about publishing Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan online six years ago. But that doesn't mean I immediately got it all right; the digital cleaning, lettering and resizing were done very clumsily and no high-res masters were kept from which I could re-do the work.

Today, some ten years after Geir, Daniel and I first discussed the concept of having their characters and mine crossing over, Alcydia ends.
If you haven't read it yet, why not go to the beginning of the story, sit back, relax and enjoy the devilish laughter rending the night over Iceland? Countess Alcydia orders you to!

To fill time while buffering up on the next Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan story, I'm running a short story set in the present day at rocr.net. Roadworks Goblins is a tale of the hidden dangers that stalk the city of Groningen (NL) by night. All-night drinking comes at a price....
