Synchronism Returns
Submitted by Katie Sekelsky on January 2, 2007 - 17:25
After a 3-month hiatus, Synchronism has returned to the web.
To ring in the new year and the return of the comic, I'm also holding a small contest. The winner will receive an inked drawing of the Synch character of their choice. More details for that can be found on Synch's news page.
Also be on the lookout in the coming weeks for a handful of extras to be added to the site. There will be things such as a Map of Leetstown, a reader's guide, and a Synch-themed iMix.
Synchronism on Hiatus
Submitted by Katie Sekelsky on September 24, 2006 - 23:35
Synchronism has officially been put on hiatus. It will likely return sometime in late October or early November.
Time off will be spent rethinking certain aspects of the plot and a change in the way the writing is done. I'll also hopefully have the time to build up a buffer of comics to come back with.
Much more info is given in the most recent Synchronism newspost.

SketchBattle has announced that they are now taking applications for Season 6.
Although SketchBattle has received a lot of flack in the past, the site is now under new ownership and management (FlamingKinkos of All Signs Point to Yes and Zach of SMBC) and they're hoping to begin to grow back to their former popularity and standards.

The Union of Concerned Scientists has announced the top 12 finalists for their Science Idol editorial cartoon contest, and voting has begun to determine the winner of the grand prize.
Direct voting page is here. The names of all the entrants are not given, so I don't know if there's any other showing from the webcomics community, but my own entry is number 6 and Bryant Paul Johnson's (of Teaching Baby Paranoia) is number 5.
New Online Gallery, with a Twist
Submitted by Katie Sekelsky on June 22, 2006 - 17:52
A new online art gallery, Square One, open to all web cartoonists, has officially openned.
It's been said over and over that one of the major advantages of webcomics, as opposed to those in print, is that with webcomics, it's much easier to look back through the archives, both to review the content, and see changes/improvements in the artwork. With the click of the mouse, in most cases, you can see both the first and last strip or page of the comic.
So, why not take it a step further back. Okay, a few steps. Or, more correctly, ridiculously far back.
The idea behind Square One is to display childhood drawings by webcomics artists right next to a recently redrawn version of the same scene/person/subject (in some cases, however, the drawing is simply displayed next to their most recent drawing/comic).

Comic Thrash, a resource and discussion site for comic artists has announced that their monthly challenge for May will be a tattoo design competition. They have six volunteers who will be deciding the winners, and if they're satisfied with the results, will actually get the art done as tattoos. Although the art does not necessarilly need to be done in a stylized comic manner, most of the volunteers are up to a variety of styles and designs.
