While I'm thinking of it, it would also be helpful to have the actual numbers. Knowing what seperates #1 from #20 would give a clearer picture.
Yah know, after reading the past 2 posts, I was a tad over-zealous not to mention naive. (Although if you want to check it out I'm not going to stop you.) Maybe if I'm lucky I'll try this again later.

Nitty thing: surely Girly should be listed as go-girly.com and not cutewendy.com?
[quote:c8746c591f="Anonymous"]A note on the buzzcomix list, the list is somewhat skewed because it's allowable for comic creators to offer bribes to get people to vote... one of them is even giving you a nice couple of nudes if you vote for their comic. Buying votes. :) It's fun, but it skews things a bit.
I use voting rewards myself actually. (No nudes, just a cute little daily pic that pops up) I figure it's legit because they are voting to see more of my owrk as opposed to someone else's.
That wasn't the point though. Of course Buzz doesn't accurately reflect overall site traffic. (You have to opt to join it, and most of the biggest strips don't bother.) I'm #40 on the list right now, but pretty obviously not number 40 in terms of the overall web. I meant that the top ten on that list get a fair amount of traffic, even with vote rewards you need it to pull in the thousands of votes that distance them from the rest of the list. Certainly you would want to independently check their stats, but seeing them at that status on the list at least gives you an idea that you might want to start watching them.
Here's a few good ones: Badly Drawn Kitties http://www.badlydrawnkitties.com, Vinci and Arty http://www.vincifruit.com, Kit N Kay Boodle http://kitnkayboodle.keenspace.com and Gene Catlow http://www.genecatlow.com

I'm gonna pimp myself since I'm planning to update ASAP. I just need to get my hands on a damned scanner.
William Beckerson

And I'd like to suggest:
Everyone with an account here. They're all good looking kids.
I dunno if my comic would apply for such a project, since it's only a weekly strip and because the number of daily hits averages only 50 - 100 per day. But, if you consider it's good enough and deserves being in such a list, feel free to add http://www.aliceotter.com to the list.

my comics won't be able to enter that list in like 8 gazillion years, so instead I'll point to my latest "discovery", Elsie Hooper
[quote:649e945043="Wednesday"]Nitty thing: surely Girly should be listed as go-girly.com and not cutewendy.com?
Yeah... I was going to say that! =D
Though I kinda hesitate to recommend having girly in the list at all, 'cause Alexa overranks the hell out of that comic. ^^;
Another recent discovery...
Sacred Pie!
Some serious space opera fun, with unlikely heroes trying to save the world from Satan himself, while they create several time paradoxes along the way...
I highly recommend it, and think it could be a candidate for a future comixpedia article, as well.
Seeing the beginning of the comic, it clearly is something that could have been terribly generic, but instead became something pretty unique (And no, I'm not connected to those guys in any way)
Rob Niedojadlo
FunnyBone Comics - The Fray
I think Bigger Than Cheeses stands a fair chance against a number of the comics on the list.
And not to be too much of a nitpicker, but the list seems a little of out date...movie comics has ended, inktank is on indefinite hiatus, sex and violence (www.mrbang.net) hasn't updated in over four months and nightlightpress.com is now checkerboardnightmare.com
Hi,
Hope you'll give my work a chance.....
Anema: Age Of The Robots, the dot comic
http://www.anema-aotr.com
The Anemals have been living in peace and prosperity for decades. Then, scientists made a fatal mistake - inventing Robots who could think for themselves. Robots were stronger, faster, and therefore superior. Therefore, they believed they should rule Anema. The battle for survival begins…
Anema is a published fantasy comic series, which is set to redefine how comics are understood. Now an online comic courtesy of author Johnny Tay, anyone worldwide can experience its enchanting storyline- a war between noble animals and evil robots.
Hmmm... what would be a reasonable, minimum criteria for making the list? At least 1,000 UIP's per day, perhaps?
I'll um, suggest my own comic
Count Your Sheep http://sheep123.keenspace.com now with more doses of adorable!
I don't think they can "watch" keenspace comics since we all show up with the same amount of unique visits.
[quote:7e7d5fbf68="Ghastly"]I don't think they can "watch" keenspace comics since we all show up with the same amount of unique visits.
That's true. Still, there's no harm in signing up.
There would be if Xerexes and Damonk took turns beating you on the head with a frozen salmon. I hear they do that to Keenspacers.
Bastards!
I will suggest:

My 2 Canadian pennies.
Oh the honor in being beaten with seafood... If only my comic was worthy of such notice. (sigh)

That was last year. This year it's usually carp or swordfish.
Personally, I'd choose carp. Swordfish just seems too obvious.
So....should I shave my head first?
[quote:e8f24daa04="RPin"]I don't wanna know.
There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

Well... having my scrotum shaved and slapped by a swordfish is the part the freaks me out.
[quote:caf4590092="Anonymous"]Look at mine. Might be good enough.
There is no freaking way I'm going to look at your scrotum no matter how good you think it might be.
Having it shaved and slapped by a swordfish enough times is bound to have consequences.
Is it me or Ghastly who has the record for most threads thrown off track around here?
Meh. May as well throw mine, if only for the cheap plug value: The Dementia of Magic
[quote:8d00c3981f="RPin"]This is starting to look like the Keenspace forums.
Except better drawn
You know... it occurs to me that there is a distinct absence of scrotum in the webcomic community. Plenty of tits and ass, but I can only recall a few comics that have shown any significant scrotal content.
Which begs the question, where are all the scrotums, who is keeping them from us, and for what purpose?
OMG READ MY COMIC TOO
Doesn't the Watch List only need to include comics people have heard of already? o_o
[quote:8db70ed2a4="RPin"]It's all a big conspiracy.
They can have my scrotum when they pry it from my cold dead hand.
Affiliated to the NSA, I see.

Post moved to Comixpedia forum here.
DeeMan
Look I understand your point, but this forum isn't the place for it. I moved your post to the general forum.
For the record there is a place in a magazine about webcomics to talk about audience favorites, critical favorites and as you mentioned - new webcomics worth discovering. Just because this feature is about "audience favorites" doesn't detract from our extensive coverage of critical favorites and new webcomics worth discovering. We've done a lot of that (just skim the archives for the year).
I'm always keen to plug my own work, so: http://www.juniper-crescent.co.uk
Also, what about Acid Keg by Steve Hogan: http://www.steve-hogan.com/acidkeg.htm
My bad. I just happened to be here reading your post when the idea hit. Sorry.
Okay, I'll take the pepsi challenge too and throw my hat in the ring. LOL.

[quote:c97d958705="Steve_Ince"]Also, what about Acid Keg by Steve Hogan: http://www.steve-hogan.com/acidkeg.htm
I appreciate the thought, but considering the purpose of the list, right now is a little soon. I may be worth adding in 2004. There is a fairly big chasm between me and the #20 spot at the moment.
A good source of titles to watch for would be the Buzz Comix list:
http://www.buzzcomix.net/index.php
The top ten has some high traffic sites that aren't currently on the list.
It would be cool to see the different criteria broken down in the grid. (Hits, links, new members, etc.) It would give a clearer impression of what's doing with these strips.
