I just got this entry in, from Jimmy Kustes of www.likeanepisodeof.com.
It doesn't use Jon's starter panel, but it is pretty Halloween-y.
Well, I'm sorry there wasn't more reaction that we've had folks. Maybe people had a hard time finsing the voting page. If that's the case then you all have my apologies.
I think the entries were awesome this year, and I would have liked to vote for each and every one of you, but it looks like Surly Ben will be getting some banner time on CO for November (the banner should be 720x90 Ben).
As for who will be receiving the orginal art from Jon, I expect he will make his choice known at the stroke of midnight, and I will pass it along to the rest of you tomorrow ;-)
what i wouldn't mind seeing next year (assuming there's enough participants - something that seems to be more of a problem every year) is a return to the "good old days" of the Fright Night institution - group projects! heck, that was the reason i originally signed on; the chance to work with other cartoonists around the globe on a fun Halloween comic.
eh, but maybe that's just wishful thinking.
i have a feeling if that's going to happen, i'd probably have to be the one to organize it, as i'm aware it's a thankless job that no-one else would want! :)

I think you're right Rudi. A group project would probably float better than a contest, and the groups can be divided according to the number of participants.
Matt will be back next year, and with your help, I'm sure we can bring things back to the hey day :-)

I'm going to have to give it to Teague Tysseling's "MerMILF" story.
There were a LOT of tuff choices in that mix, and I spent some time
wavering between Teague's and a couple others, particularly the folks
who produced freaking mini-epics for the contest. In the end, I think
Teague had both the art and the story working best of all.
For the record, Kris Straub, Dave Rigley, Ben Bittner and Rudi Gunther
all came really close to stealing it from Teague.
So yeah, there we go! A winnah!
Thanks for including me in FN this year, I had a blast checking these out!

T want to say thank you..before a bright and shiny object distracts me again...
I simply enjoyed doing the comic for this contest ...I really don't care about winning anything or not...I had one heck of a comic creator block for the past month and this project helped to break it.
Now moving on to other projects:D
Maybe, just maybe, Ill get that self-published thing done by the APE in April...

The MerMILF link used to have the same problem that the link to my personal site on the Fright Night page still has.

The reason why not is that he's not listed in the poll. Which kinda skews things against him... (He was the last one in, but I know he got his entry done before midnight PST, because I was looking at it last night around 11...)
Yeah, I don't understand that. I tried to add him three times and it wouldn't take. He seems to be up now, but I obviously have some other things to take care of (Teague's URL for instance). Sorry for the bugs guys.

it took me quite a while to decide which was my favorite. it was a difficult descision on my part, because i felt i had to consider how great a priority artistic merit needed to play in my deliberations. there were a number of wonderful art styles and layout methods to take into account.
however, in the end, i voted for the one that made me laugh.
