Domain Name

Anonymous's picture

I'm trying to figure out a new domain name for my comics... apparently my name is all ready taken...stupid doppelgangers...

So, I ask, what makes a good domain name online-comic wise?

If this question is answerable, I'd appreciate some advice.

It seems to me that short-and-easy-to-type is good.

Unfortunately for me, "akotas.com" was taken and "Arthur, King of Time and Space" doesn't really abbreviate to anything else.

I was in the same boat. I have a much better claim to krakow.com than some stupid city! :)

I settled for krakowstudios.com. I've seen a few ----comic.com and ----online.com domain names as well.

yeah, when i did my old comic (Back in the Day), I used bitdcomic.com, as backintheday.com/net was already taken. but basically, the title, an abbreviation (if it works) or something along those lines. Or if what you want is taken, hyphens could work as well (I'm thinking about buying the-epilogue.com for my current comic)

Well, since it sounds like you have several comics, as opposed to one (which you could do the domain name after in the manner already suggested here by the others)... have you considered http://www.harker-online.com -- because it doesn't look like anyone is using that right now. :)

Hmm, that's not bad... I do have several comics, though I'm trying to focus on one right now... Right now, I'm stuck between naming it the name of that comic (which is kind of long, though not all that difficult to remember) or giving it a new name that could encompass any and all comics I choose to draw (like e-sheep or qwantz, for example).... I'm leaning towards the latter...

Thanks for the tips guys

RE: Re: Domain Name

I just went for wackiness, hence www.carvsmotorcycle.com was born. It doesn't bother me that the strip has nothing to do with cars, motorcycles, or cars hitting motorcycles. I've had people tell me its a great name, and i've had people tell me I should change it... but they all remember what it is, so mission accomplished.

So who's Carv, and what's special about his motorcycle?
