e-comicbooks

Any thoughts on e-books as an alternative to or alongside printed webcomic collections? I suppose you could see them as intermediate between print and web-based comics. On one hand they can be sold from the "virtual shelves" of online bookstores, and so there's a chance they might catch some of the regular-comicbook readership who aren't accustomed to pure webcomics; on the other, you'd expect them to have some of the advantages of webcomics, no printing or shipping costs and free use of color. On the downside, there'd be the issues of resolution and picture quality, and of piracy, digital rights management, fair-use etc.

RE: e-comicbooks

Aside from the piracy/rights issues the big hurdle would be to provide a universal way to read the books in a controlled environment. Maybe making people comfortable enough to download a free reader that they can just plug the books into and flip through like a paper version.

RE: e-comicbooks

Well, I know most sites have banners and stuff that wont work real well in an ebook... I dunno, its hard to get people to pay money for ebooks, unless its "How to think your way to a new you" or whatever self help book is out.
