Problems with Getting EMails from Comixpedia Site?

xerexes's picture

I'm trying to figure out if there's a problem with everyone getting emails from Comixpedia.com or just some.  I had someone help me with hardening my server from attacks, etc so its possible he made it so drupal couldn't execute it's email function but then again it may be individuals who are having problems. (I can get email from the site on my various accounts - that's kind of why I'm confused as to where the problem is)

These are the most recent folks signed up for Comixpedia - if you're out there tell me if you got the email from the site with your password, etc or not.  If you've had to get a new password from the site and had problems or success please let me know too.  Thanks.  (Also if you're having problems with your account email me at xerexes AT comixpedia Dot Com.)

Baffling

is comixpedia.net handled under a different account and password? Looks like I'm having that email problem there, as well.

The internet makes my brain bleed.

Xaviar-- I recently sent

Xaviar-- I recently sent you a survey question, and I didn't hear back from you. I assumed you weren't inclined to respond, but maybe it was the email problem.

php emailer banned on some ISP's

Some ISP's are now banning (ie dumping) email received from any php program that sends emails as "root". What this means is you need to make sure that drupal is sending from a real email account name, not as a root user from the server. This usually requires a mod to have the "from" field set to a real return account on your system, so if it gets looked up it actually exists. AOL and many other major ISPs have decided that php based emails from root are mostly spam (their opinion, obviously not fact) and have unilaterially started doing this dumping of email. In this case the end user NEVER sees the email and it doesn't go to a spam folder, it's just blackholed.

Why I'm Confused

Someone suggested that maybe the server company I'm using may be being blocked by some other ISPs.  I'll have to look into that...

Why I'm Confused

I just created another test account and it worked for me.  Granted it's to an email address off of another domain hosted on the same machine but I'm not sure why that would make a difference would it?
