Tomorrow I go for Employment Assistance through the unemployment office. I'm not sure what it entails but I am guessing that whoever counsels me on my job search will do everything they can to crush my dreams of having another job I like.
I had to write down my job experience and other information. Once there, they will review the details I provided and help me find a job, I guess. When asked what types of jobs I am looking for, I wrote down the jobs I want -- namely journalism, public relations and other media type jobs. I've been working at a newspaper for three years and I really feel like it is the work I was meant to do. I imagine they will laugh at me and tell me to lower my expectations a bit and look for a "real" job.
"Sorry, all the jobs you like are unavailable, you should just give up and work at a gas station again."
I am not looking forward to this.
